Meteora Still Going Strong – 'Broken Mind' Has Arrived

It’s an intense period for the symphonic metal band Meteora – following the release of their 'In This Silence' EP on August 8, the group now unveils 'Broken Mind', the first preview of the second installment in their upcoming mini-album trilogy, complete with an official music video.

Atilla Király on the birth of the song and video:
“It’s a busy time for us. The 'In This Silence' EP hasn’t even cooled down yet, but the next mini-album’s lead single has already arrived. This time we chose the title track as the single — within the band we feel it’s the strongest song not only on the second EP, but on the entire fourth album. 'Broken Mind' is about those moments when you see your own flaws and weaknesses, yet you want to become a better person for someone else. It would be easier to just say: I’m like this because of past traumas, deal with it, but deep down you know the other person isn’t to blame and deserves better.

The song originally went under the working title 'Sonataborgir', before the lyrics were written. When I composed the intro theme, I was reminded of 'Wolf and Raven' by Sonata Arctica, while Gábor, our drummer, felt it had more of a Dimmu Borgir vibe. In the end, the final version doesn’t really resemble either — but it’s always fascinating to see how a song evolves before its release.

The video was made by Kill Monday Management, and we can’t recommend them enough — it’s rare for a shoot to go this smoothly. And you’ll be able to hear 'Broken Mind' live for the first time at our 'In This Silence' release show on September 13 in the main hall of Analog Music Hall.”
