American alternative rock outfit Dead Poet Society have officially announced their third studio album, Monarch, arriving on October 2 via Spinefarm Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has unveiled the album's latest single, "Cold," accompanied by an official music video directed by vocalist Jack Underkofler.
The new track continues the band's exploration of emotionally charged songwriting, combining heavy riffs, melodic textures and introspective lyrics. According to drummer Will Goodroad, "Cold" examines how people gradually reshape themselves to gain acceptance, often losing sight of who they truly are in the process.
Following the previously released singles "Roach" and "Sinner Systems," "Cold" offers another glimpse into the sonic direction of Monarch, an album that promises to be Dead Poet Society's most ambitious and emotionally resonant work yet.
Produced by Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots, Pierce The Veil) and mixed by GRAMMY-winning engineer Adam Hawkins, the album builds upon the foundation laid by -!- (2021) and FISSION (2024), pushing the band's signature blend of alternative rock and modern heavy music even further.
Speaking about the creative process, vocalist Jack Underkofler explained that the goal was to capture the essence of what makes Dead Poet Society unique while taking their songwriting to a deeper emotional level.
Alongside the album announcement, the band has also launched The House, an interactive online experience inspired by the artwork of Monarch, encouraging fans to uncover hidden clues connected to the new release.
To support the album, Dead Poet Society will embark on an extensive North American and European tour running from October through March, including a Budapest, Hungary show on February 16, 2027 at Akvárium Klub.
