Icelandic folk metal newcomers HRAFNABLÓT continue building anticipation for their debut album Guðlaugar Saga with the release of their second single and official music video, "Dísablót."
Following the band's first single, Svartigaldur, the new track opens the next chapter of the album's ambitious concept story while showcasing HRAFNABLÓT's distinctive blend of Icelandic folklore, dramatic storytelling, and powerful folk metal.
"Dísablót was the first song we wrote together as a band. As such, we've had a long time to polish and refine it."
Musically, the song combines driving riffs, twin-guitar harmonies, soaring solos, and dynamic vocal performances, creating an energetic mix of traditional folk influences and modern metal intensity.
Lyrically, the story follows Guðlaug, a shy young woman who mysteriously finds herself transported from present-day Reykjavík to Iceland's settlement era after following a mysterious fairy known as a Dís. Unsure whether she has been drugged or pulled through time by ancient magic, Guðlaug begins an epic journey that forms the backbone of the band's upcoming concept album.
The single artwork, illustrated by Ana Nikitina, depicts Guðlaug surrounded by flames, ravens, and ancient Icelandic magical runes, perfectly reflecting the mystical atmosphere of the story.
Scheduled for release in fall 2026, Guðlaugar Saga promises an epic narrative combining Icelandic mythology, folklore, magic, and history with melodic folk metal, gothic influences, and powerful heavy riffs. The album will feature seven full-length songs and two spoken-word pieces, all connected through one continuous storyline.
Although still a young band, HRAFNABLÓT have already established themselves on Iceland's live scene, performing at venues including Íslenski rokkbarinn, Lemmy, BIRD, and the Icelandic Sorcery Festival, where their theatrical performances have become known for blending music, storytelling, and ritualistic stage presentation.
With "Dísablót," HRAFNABLÓT continue to craft a unique musical universe rooted deeply in Icelandic culture while delivering an exciting and cinematic take on modern folk metal.
