Heavy metal visionaries AVATAR – vocalist Johannes Eckerström, guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström, bassist Henrik Sandelin, and drummer John Alfredsson – are thrilled to announce the release of their latest masterpiece, Don’t Go In The Forest, arriving October 31.

Alongside the announcement, the band has also unveiled the music video for “Tonight We Must Be Warriors.”

“It has become a necessity to me over the years to be able to answer one question: Why is this important? It can't be just another album. We need to discover something, try something else. It has to come from the heart. What is being said matters,” says vocalist Johannes Eckerström about the single release “Tonight We Must Be Warriors.” “In days of isolation and despair, maybe we need to be reminded that we are not alone? We are one of many. Maybe we also need a reminder that the burden is on our shoulders? To get it done, we need to do the fighting ourselves. In our shared pain, we find solidarity.”

“The secret ingredient is that we still feel like we're just getting started. Don’t Go In The Forest is an album filled to the brim with things we’ve never done before. These are songs and concepts we’ve never even touched until now. The mind is wild, and we have lost ourselves in the darkest woods – filled with memories, fantasies, and forbidden thoughts that must be spoken,” continues Eckerström on the upcoming release. “It would have been impossible to make this album at any other time than now. That’s all we ever wanted, and I think you’ll find it’s all you ever wanted too.”

Back in April, the band announced their headline tour “A Night To Be Tour Apart” – now renamed “In The Airwaves.” In addition, Norwegian feminist black metal group Witch Club Satan and Norwegian death-jazz band Agabas have been confirmed as special guests on select dates.

Over the past years, Avatar have continuously elevated their craft: their critically acclaimed 2023 album Dance Devil Dance featured the rock radio smash “The Dirt I’m Buried In”. They’ve headlined dozens of sold-out shows worldwide – and even had a fossil named after them. The list goes on.

But the past is behind them, and the future looks… dark. In the best possible way – exactly how Avatar prefer it.

The band has already released the singles “Captain Goat” and “In The Airwaves”.

The foreseeable future (if not eternity) will see Avatar on the road – including upcoming shows supporting Metallica and the band’s biggest concert ever in Mexico City. A full overview of the band’s extensive touring plans for the next two years can be found below.

Avatar show no signs of slowing down on their path to the top of the world. More is coming. You will not be disappointed.
