Wave.X were formed in 2020, in Ukraine by the guitarist Vitalii Karnakaugh and the singer Hanna Demchenko.
The “Pierrot (My Sad Prince)” is one of the most representative singles of the band, depicting in great detail the sound and musical approach of the Wave.X. While they could be placed under the umbrella and generic genre of the melodic metal, the Wave.X showcase plenty of different influences in their sound.
With a sound that can remind other times of Evanescence and other of the Within Temptation, the Wave.X present a music inspired by the standards of modern metal that was formed after the ‘00s. Particularly, the single in review is mainly riff based, while the beautiful and incredibly catchy melodic lines are produced by the keyboards. Along with the ethereal, female vocals that are the song’s protagonist, the melodic lines shape a gothic aesthetic that accompanies the lyrics’ sad yet romantic theme.
The Wave.X might be newly formed and still without a complete release, still the first samples of work are delightful and really promising. I can only hope and wish that they keep on the same path of creativity. But until the time of the album comes, you should definitely check out the work already released.
