Deathroll comes from Fukushima, Japan, and is a black/heavy metal band that was formed in 2011 from the mastermind Kazu, who is responsible for the major part of the band’s sound because he writes music, plays guitars and handles the vocal duties for Deathroll.
Immorality is Deathroll’s 6th album already, which means that the ensemble is very productive. With 6 albums already released, Deathroll is an experienced band, too. The new album Immorality is released from the German STF Records.
The abstract cover artwork of Immorality is what attracts the eye at first. It is a cover artwork that leaves you with countless possibilities to translate/ interpret it. We were left with a positive aura and a nice feeling for the cover as it reminded us of the Pan.Thy.Monium cover artworks that we really love!
A Pan.Thy.Monium essence - in terms of experimentation - appears in Deathroll music as well. The band uses heavy riffs with groovy parts and avoids ultra-fast tempos to create a dark and sinister atmosphere.
Thrash/speed metal influences are also present, making the album more aggressive by adding to its rawness with their speed.
The general concept of the band is similar to the way Mayhem work on their music. The sound is dark, heavy and abysmal.
The soul-drenching vocals offer a 90’s death metal view that fits the project. The lyrics refer to the inner self, society issues, fantasy experiences and problems we have to face with ourselves.
Immorality is highly recommended to all extreme metal fans that want to listen something unique and really personal. Deathroll take black metal as we know it one step further. They create what they call Japanese Extreme Metal Art!
