Australian/Finnish progressive dark metal collective THE ETERNAL have released the official music video for their new single, "Colours Fade," offering another glimpse into their upcoming album, Obscured Horizons, due out September 18 via Reigning Phoenix Music.
The new track combines haunting melodies, cinematic atmosphere, and the band's signature blend of progressive heaviness with emotional songwriting. Lyrically, "Colours Fade" explores themes of memory, identity, perception, and the passage of time, reflecting the struggle between illusion and reality.
According to vocalist Mark Kelson, the song is about how memories and emotions reshape our understanding of life. The fading colours symbolize not only the loss of clarity but also transformation, suggesting that nothing truly disappears—it simply changes.
Following the acclaimed releases of Skinwalker and the Celestial EP, Obscured Horizons expands THE ETERNAL's sound even further. The album promises a powerful journey through emotional collapse, fractured identity, and eventual renewal, combining atmospheric melancholy with crushing riffs and progressive songwriting.
The band continues to unite musicians from Australia and Finland, featuring Mark Kelson, Richie Poate, former Amorphis bassist Niclas Etelävuori, and Amorphis drummer Jan Rechberger.
