Hungary’s symphonic metal force Meteora are closing in on the completion of their fourth full-length album, but this time they’re breaking tradition. Instead of dropping it all at once, the band will unveil it in three chapters — and the first instalment, the four-track EP In This Silence, is out now.
The title track comes with a haunting animated short created by Dronicon Films, the studio behind videos for Swallow the Sun, Rob Zombie and Katatonia — and long-time creative collaborators of Meteora.
Keyboardist/vocalist Atilla Király describes the release:
"Welcome to our kingdom! The first act of our new EP trilogy, ‘In This Silence,’ has arrived. I wrote the title song about hopelessness and apathy back in 2023, at a time when silence stopped being peaceful and started feeling suffocating. I think many listeners will relate. Musically, it pushed me out of my comfort zone — it’s far more guitar-driven and aggressive than our earlier work. ‘Rebirth’ is guitarist Dani Baranya’s songwriting debut with the band, while ‘Ghosts’ is a song close to both Noémi’s and my heart — we truly feel it’s our best ballad yet. We can’t wait to bring these songs to life on stage at our upcoming release show at Analog Music Hall!"
