This Friday, July 18, the symphonic metal band from Patagonia, SOMNIUM, officially releases their first full-length album, Lejos del Abismo, now available on all digital platforms. Blending symphonic metal with cinematic elements, the group delivers a powerful and emotionally charged record, featuring 11 tracks, including instrumental passages and intense atmospheric moments. After teasing the project with the singles Lejos del abismo and Euforia, SOMNIUM now invites us to dive into a conceptual journey of introspection, redemption, and inner rebirth. The lyrics explore the core of human existence, the search for something beyond the tangible, and the personal responsibility of shaping one’s own destiny—even through pain and darkness.
Formed by DarÃo Rietman (keyboards, Lago Puelo), Fabio Nahuelquir (guitar, El Bolsón), and Patricia Mora (vocals & lyrics, Trevelin), the trio has kept its original lineup since 2020. For this album, Cristian Pérez joins as a guest vocalist on the song Anhelo de luz, while Magali Rietman performs session bass duties. Their sound draws from the grandeur of symphonic metal but expands with a variety of textures and moods, making Lejos del Abismo a dynamic and immersive listening experience. The album was recorded and produced by DarÃo Rietman and Fabio Nahuelquir, with mixing and mastering handled by Nahuelquir at El Parche Home Studio. The album cover, created by Mono Designs, features a human figure emerging from darkness into an infinite array of possibilities—echoing the emotional and conceptual core of the album. Though no live shows or video clips have been announced yet, this release could mark the beginning of SOMNIUM’s debut on stage in the near future.
Lejos del Abismo is now streaming on Spotify, YouTube Music, and all digital platforms. Don’t miss this introspective journey.
SOMNIUM
The project began to take shape in 2019, born from a desire to fuse metal and epic soundscapes. SOMNIUM is the joint creation of DarÃo Rietman (keyboardist from Lago Puelo) and Fabio Nahuelquir (guitarist from El Bolsón), rooted in a clear vision: to merge symphonic metal with electronic elements in order to craft a unique and emotionally charged sound. They cite undeniable influences such as NIGHTWISH and HANS ZIMMER, among others.
In 2020, Patricia Mora (vocals and lyrics, from Trevelin) joined the project as lead singer. With her vocal talent and ability to convey deep emotion, Patricia completed the musical puzzle SOMNIUM had envisioned from the beginning. Her powerful, emotive voice has become the signature sound that brings the band’s lyrics and melodies to life, solidifying the project’s identity.
Since then, SOMNIUM has kept its original lineup intact—a testament to the strength and harmony among its members. The band has also released a music video titled “Humanidad”, which combines a captivating visual narrative with their powerful sound. They are currently working on the production of their highly anticipated debut album.
