Pythia, the UK’s premier purveyors of symphonic power metal, began their journey through the realms of fantasy in 2007. In the years that followed they released four full length albums characterised by thunderous riffs, spiralling solos, soaring vocals and all-encompassing imagination, including 2019s hugely acclaimed The Solace Of Ancient Earth. However, since the release of that epic creation, the gates to Pythia’s kingdom have remained locked, leaving fans hungry for escape, adventure and melodic metal, delivered as only this band can. Now, after six long, cold years of waiting, the way is open once more and Pythia are ready to present the first part of their fifth grand tale; V Pt 1: Unhallowed is here!
Featuring five breathtaking tracks of immaculately crafted metal, with fierce, steel clad guitars bound in an intricate gold filigree of entrancing melody and draped in the bewitching atmosphere of other worlds than this, V Pt 1: Unhallowed will lift you from the mire of the mundane and sweep you up on a wave of energy and excitement. Each song, each leg on this journey plays a vital part in the experience – be it the dark complexities of ‘A Curse In The Blood’, the brooding heart of this collection, or the deftly delivered storytelling of first single ‘Path Of Decay’, with its unforgettable chorus. There is no moment when the listener might slip from the cradling grasp of …Unhallowed, no misstep where the dream could be broken. With dazzling guitar solos cascading through every track and siren vocals that will lead you faithfully through every dark rift valley and shadowed forest, this is Pythia’s crowning glory to date.
By bringing in the mixing talents of Ollie Roberts at Kettle Brew Studios and entrusting the mastering process, once again, to the internationally respected Jacob Hansen (Epica, Evergrey, Destruction etc) Pythia have ensured the very finest sound for V Pt 1: Unhallowed; each note sings, each drum beat shakes the earth. Completing the creative package is the artwork of Remy Cooper of Headsplit Design (Arch Enemy, Spiritual Beggars, Napalm Death etc), whose cover art is the first step along the road to this nirvana, where power and symphonic metal entwine in perfect harmony. V Pt 1: Unhallowed will be released on May 23rd…so let the adventure begin!
