“You either bleed out or you learn to grow from the scars!"

American alt-rock outfit DAKAR are back in March with 'Over the Line', their first release of 2021. To preview the new song, the Florida-based foursome now has a cover of Tom Petty’s “You Wreck Me” available on Spotify and other streaming services.

David Benfield and Darrell Edmunds co-front the band and say it’s the first time they’ve ever produced something in the recording studio that wasn’t written by them.

"It’s always been a fun one to play live,” said Edmunds. “We thought it would be worth tracking in the studio, if for no other reason than to give tribute to such a massive influence on our work."

The upcoming single release is one of several new songs to drop through the spring in advance of live dates this summer.

DAKAR is a rock band from Duval County, Florida, named after the street in the Murray Hill neighborhood where it was founded by David Benfield and Darrell Edmunds in 2015. The songwriting pair based their work in the style of 90s alternative and evolved from there, incorporating elements of indie, punk, modern, and southern rock with an unabashed penchant for pro-democracy, anti-facist, pro-diversity, anti-racist themes. Their EP, Come and Get It is now available for purchase and streaming on various platforms.
