Insane Driver

After a stormy Saturday night, on a quiet Sunday morning, I chose to listen to the album by Insane Driver, while I was sitting in the garden watching the drift of the clouds in the sky. Peace, calm, good music. The band's debut album was perfect for this mood.

The Brazilian band was founded in 2013, their self-titled album was released three years ago. In their own words, their cocktail contains Heavy Metal, Metalcore and a little Post Grunge.

The soft melody of the intro 'Endless Path' is closed by the sounds of a car crash which leads to the first song 'The Edge of Life'. It makes people nod involuntarily with its mid-tempo and seriousness, while they can feel the hesitating of a man who is on the edge of life and death, where he should go. The prose ending is also very well done.

But if we decided to stay, here is 'Firstly My Breakfast', the non-existing afterlife of the one night affairs. With more tender chorus melody which is in sharp contrast to what is said. Here we also get a prosaic part that fits in the song well.

'Tide of Fears' arrives with a serious meaning, the melody and the lyric are in perfect harmony. It is as good as it is. But maybe that's why I can't summarize what it is about, because I should quoute the full lyric. You must hear and understand it in its entirety.

We can't rest, we can't relieve, the feeling of the revenge comes with the song 'Buried Thoughts'. I have to say, they have a very expressive, passionate singer, you believe him the crazy joy of retaliation.

And we are still struggling, not giving up but gaining strength, and rising again, though our dreams have fallen apart. 'Fallen Dreams' is a more lyric song, but it is the same powerful as the previous songs.

If we already know that our dreams are fallen and we have to become strong, it is time to face ourselves and to change if we don't see what we would like to see in ourselves - the next song 'Change' messages to us. We get powerful tempo, hard tone pushing it in our face to do it!

We can breathe a little during the song 'Today is Sunday'. It has a lighter content, but it brings the madness of living in a drudgery perfectly, when we already forget, that it is Sunday and only "hurry" pulsates in our head. Khmm.... I can totally feel it, because I was that idiot who obeying daily routine, got ready in the morning and went to work on her day off on Monday. What's more, she arrived at the office when she realized that this was no place for her :). So, when I'm listening to this song, due to my personal involvement, I'm always grinning, because it reminds of my own stupidity.

'Faithless Breath' draws us back to tough topics: empty faith, puppets pulled by others, existence without answers, locked in our own cage. We only get some absolution by the end:
"Better divided by a hit
Than united by mistakes"

'Make Decisions' also has an important message. Let's make our decisions, let's change our thoughts, if they lead us in a wrong way. Let's dare to do it. There is less words in this song compared to the other ones, but the melody counteracts it, so it doesn't become boring.

The last song 'Tears of Blood' is about the feeling of "I want it, but I resist". A real lyric song, but it becomes heavier in the middle. This is a good dissolving and closing of the album.

In short, we can listen to a mid-tempo, melodic, head-nodding album about important, tough topics with good lyircs, absolutely expressive vocal, well-fitting chorus.

As for me, I hope, I will be lucky to see them in Hungary.
